Now Hiring Buyer ll (Temporary)

Up to 13 months

The City of Medicine Hat Purchasing section has an exciting temporary opportunity for a Buyer ll within the Finance Department. Our successful candidate will be responsible for buying activities, including developing Tender/RFP packages, analysis of bids, writing and reviewing contracts/tender documents and related documentation.

A proven ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines is essential. The successful candidate must have a commitment to superior customer service, have knowledge of the legislative/regulatory requirements, be organized and be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy in work during heavy workloads.

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalency
  • Courses completed in the Supply Chain Canada designation or The Institute for Public Procurement (NIGP) or their CPPB or CPPO designation
  • Four (4) years related buying experience, preferably in the public sector
  • Supplementary training in word processing and spreadsheet programs is considered an asset
  • A management approved combination education and experience may be considered
