The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and reliable staff to add to our recreation programming team based out of the Big Marble Go Centre and other Parks & Recreation facilities. The City is looking to fill both Summer or camp specific positions (Approx May to September) AND to fill ongoing staff positions.
Our ideal candidate
- Are independent, responsible and reliable individuals who will assist in the planning and delivery of general recreation programs, including day camps and special event programming, such as gym rentals or birthday parties.
- Individuals must be flexible, adaptable and have a customer service attitude while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all patrons.
- Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to a health and wellness lifestyle and would be required to coordinate their work with others, be detail orientated while multi-tasking, and foster a positive environment in our facilities.
- In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure while demonstrating a positive image of self, and the organization as a whole.
- Possesses a general knowledge of safe and proper use of fitness, sports and recreation equipment.
- Provide general supervision of patrons n general spontaneous recreation, after school and summer day camp programming.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma
- Current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificates (or ability to obtain it)
- Submission of satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Intervention Record Check (18+ only)
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
- While not required, previous experience working in camps, events, or general recreation programming is considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
